Mr. Stavros graduated from Western Illinois University in 1974 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and was awarded his J.D. degree in 1978 from Northern Illinois University College of Law. Mr. Stavros became Assistant in-house Counsel for Lutheran General Hospital in 1978 and entered private practice in January of 1980 when he founded Alfred D. Stavros & Associates. In 40 years of legal practice, Mr. Stavros has obtained on behalf of his clients, settlements and jury awards in personal injury and medical malpractice cases totaling in excess of $70 million. Mr. Stavros has been inducted into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, limited to attorneys who have obtained a personal injury or medical malpractice jury verdict, award or settlement of $1 million or more.
Mr. Stavros also handles both criminal and traffic matters specializing in DUI defense and Illinois Secretary of State Hearings. Mr. Stavros has successfully handled a wide variety of criminal cases ranging from serious felony drug trafficking charges to local ordinance violations. In over 40 years of practice, Mr. Stavros has successfully handled thousands of bench trials and hundreds of jury trials in both the criminal and civil courts. Mr. Stavros is a member of the Federal Trial Bar, Illinois Bar Association, American Bar Association, Northwest Suburban Bar Association and is admitted to practice before all Illinois District Courts, the Illinois Appellate Courts, the Illinois Supreme Court, the Federal District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the United States Supreme Court.
Alfred D. Stavros is a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Such an honor is only bestowed upon those attorneys who receive a jury verdict in excess of one million dollars.
