He began his legal career as Assistant In-House Counsel for Lutheran General Hospital (1978) before entering private practice and founding Alfred D. Stavros & Associates in 1978.

He is admitted to practice before:

• All Illinois state trial courts, the Illinois Appellate Courts, and the Illinois Supreme Court
• The U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois
• The United States Supreme Court
